There may very well be a hundred other books out there on the topic, but I have to say, I am so glad to have come across this one.
I can't stand the "name it and claim it" mentality that has swept our country. If you do this than God owes you that. No, that I am confident is not how my Heavenly Father operates. Reading this book solidifies that matter, even more.
I recommend this book to anyone who is hungry (no pun intended) and longing for a deeper walk with the Lord.
I have to tell you, this book is not a "what do I get out of it" kind of book - but rather a book that teaches a discipline that quite honestly, I did not know about, through fasting and prayer and drawing near to the Lord while doing so.
Currently I am seeking Christ regarding a particular area of my life as well as my family's, and I am also praying for people that I care about who do not know Him personally. In just the first 5 days of my experience, a door has opened that would other wise be closed, to share the gospel with a particular person. A healing is beginning to take place in another situation that I am praying for, and there remains 25 days left in this month.
I am excited about what Jesus is teaching me in our quiet times, the perspective He is sharpening, and the anticipation He has birthed in my spirit for those things that He wills to see take place.
No, this book in and of itself is not responsible for what is going on - but it sure has pointed me down a path that I have other wise looked right over the top of.
Oh, I can only imagine how powerful his book must be. Anytime I've heard him preach I have eaten meat (no pun intended either). Ha.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the suggestion! I might get it!
Love,
Beth
Well said. I will have to check out this book.

I honestly do not know much about fasting and haven't looked into it very deeply. I am going to get the book and really take a good look at fasting. Thank you for sharing, I'm excited to see what God will do through this discipline. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteI have fasted several times and my experience has always been wonderful. It really is an experience that brings you closer to God and brings so many blessings. I will be looking for this book to see what the author has to say about it. Thanks for sharing Trish!
ReplyDeleteOur church just did a Daniel fast for Lent.Fasting is not getting God to do something. Fasting does not change God. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Fasting changes us. Fasting helps us to crucify our flesh so that we can hear from God.
ReplyDeleteI know this fast will bring about great breakthrough in your life and the lives of your loved ones.
PS It is a great book!
