My quilt is made with Kate Spain's Honey Honey for Moda. The summery colors and patterns are reminiscent to sleep overs at my grandparents house as a child.  Nanny's sheets were always so soft and pretty.  Just like her!  I cherish those special memories so much!

I designed the layer cake quilt pattern itself for The Moda Bake Shop, after seeing a similar pattern in an old magazine.  It was so much fun to make!  And is one of my very favorite!

Blogger's Quilt Festival : Fall 2012

The quilt I have decided to share is very near and dear to my heart.  It is called bubble gum icecream and I designed it myself.

With a heart full of nostalgia of fun childhood memories that included eating bubble gum icecream on hot summer days in Northern California, my dear little quilt was born.

The fabrics and colors were chosen with those cute pastel round bubble gums in mind.  What a treat it was to bite into my icecream cone and find that little treasure.  Yummy!  It was the perfect way to cool off on a hot summer day.

It was so much fun playing with many of my favorite scraps of fabric that were tucked away for a special project.  And due to the nature of the pattern, you can really mix it up with your own special memories and colors dear to your own heart.

The quilting is done by a very talented professional quilter.  Kathy did such a beautiful job!  I nearly squealed when it arrived back home with me.  I just stood there and hugged my quilt!

in the shadows.

Oh boy...six days later and I am finally posting again.
Have you all had a chance to check out Amy's Blogger's Quilt Festival?  Sweet mercy!  The last time I checked there were well over 500 quilts posted!!  Can you believe that?  

The BQF is in part why things have been so quiet on this end.  It is like my favorite show, with all new episodes and not wanting to miss a single one! 

Golly!  The talent out there is off the charts!  

And not only have I had so much fun viewing every one's quilts, I have had a couple projects of my own lurking in the shadows.  Like a fall quilt.  I finally cut into my beloved jelly roll and made a very simple block.  The flannel will be the backing ... still working on it.

Thanks to my big cat Easter ... I hit a few bumps in the road.  And from the looks of this picture ... he does not appear the least bit repentant!

Blogger's Quilt Festival. Fall 2011

I'm here.  I'm here.  I'm really here!  I have admired Amy's Blogger's Quilt Festival every season and now and so pleased to actually be participating!  Yay!

The quilt I am sharing with you today, was a real labor of love.  A king sized quilt created with 5" squares and hand quilted, for our master bedroom.

 

And here is where it all began.  It took me around a year to save and collect fabrics that were dear to me.   Many of them were either gifts or trades.  In the evenings when I snuggle under our quilt, to go to sleep, I know who each fabric is from and it blesses my heart that we have such a sentimental and special quilt.

Here is a shot of the quilting process.  I pretty much moved my table and chair into the living room, smack dab in the middle of the house and stole away moments to put a stitch in.  In the evenings while we watched a show was also premium quilting time.  That way, I was with my family and able to stitch about.

 

The quilting was done "quilt in the ditch style" which really helped me stay right where I needed to be.  And I used perle 8 thread.  I love the nubby feel it gives.
