valentine heart banners.

My dear friend Kathy has recently stocked her adorable shop with some super cute valentine heart banner kits.  

Everything you will need to create the darling banners is included in the kit.  You have the option of sewing or hot gluing them together.  No measuring, no cutting, no guess work, it's all been done for you!!  

This would be a fun project to do with a sweet little miss, or if you gathered several friends for some crafty time! 

If you happen to already have supplies on hand and would like to create a banner using them, Kathy also has the option of a heart banner pattern in pdf.

My heart banner stays out all year long (I got mine in 2012 and I love it!).  It is just too sweet to put away.

sentimental.

Every year I receive a smidge of birthday money that I weigh very heavily what it will be spent on.  I look especially for something most dear, a treasure I will cherish.

This year I choose a very pretty hand made tea towel from Vintage Grey.  Heather has the pretties tea towels.  It was tough deciding which to purchase.

That is, until I saw the adorable strawberries!!  Oh sweet mercy!  Strawberries are my very favorite!!  

This is one of my very favorite birthday purchases!  Heather has added the sweetest charm with a pretty doily, a half dresden plate with such cute fabrics, and a crochet trim at the bottom, all on vintage fabric.

It is perfect.  A sweet delight that I smile at each time I see it!  I was planning to hang it in my kitchen (a don't touch sort of towel) but I can't stop looking at it, so for now it goes where I go!

my Friday finish.

Yay!  I finally finished my seeing stars quilt.  Oh my.  I was beginning to think I never would.  For the strangest reason, it just somehow kept getting pushed to the back burner.

 

I am so happy with how it turned out.

 

The hand quilting was finished a few days ago and the binding was finished yesterday.  

 

I don't believe I have done all my chores faster than I did on Thursday, knowing that as soon as they were done, I could work on the binding, then wash and dry.

   

I just love all the crinkly goodness when you take a quilt out of the drier.  Don't you? It was actually still warm when I took these photos.

Thank you Allison for a great tutorial.  It was so much fun!

Sew and Tell

a little more lemonade and a question.

Boy, I'll tell ya.  This table topper is certainly trying my patience.  I could not machine quilt it to safe my life.  So I decided to go ahead and hand quilt it instead.  Which I actually like the look of better, but had I known I would be on this route, I would have started earlier.  Especially since I have had to pick out every little machine stitch.

One other thing ... I had intended to put an additional border in this mitten print-but it would be too large.  It is called The Twelve Joys of Christmas, by Sheri Berry Designs.  Oh gosh is it cute!!  Ok, a little side note ... she also has a new line coming out in May (MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!  YAY!  IT IS GOING ON MY LIST!),  it is called

Oh sweet mercy!!!  That is the sweetest Christmas fabric I have seen to date!  And I love every single piece!  Breathe ....

And ... we're back!  

Here is a little peek at some of my stitches.  I need to really hustle on this one if I want to see it out and about for the season.      

I have a question for you.  

Do you like a whole bunch of stuff or is less more?  

I believe it is and this year, we purchased a much smaller tree (tall and narrow), pre-lit, and there are maybe 20 ornaments on it, not to mention some candy canes and we donated our larger tree to a local thrift store.  It is simple, but sweet.

I have one little nativity set out, a Christmas wreath, and mainly decorating with table toppers and candles.  Which are few. 

The gifts I made, were made with every ounce of love in my heart, and the purchased ones are few, but deliberate. 

Looking around my home, it feels cozy and full of love, but not all the clutter.

How are you decorating this year?  I am not opposed to filling every corner, I just don't like how noisy it feels to me.  I want the season to quiet our hearts and reflect what means the most.  The birth of Jesus Christ and being with our family.

I woke this morning refreshed and filled with a joyous outlook on the future ... singing a familiar Christmas carol "Joy to the World".
There is such an amazing peace that washes over me as I meditate on how I have a Heavenly Father who loves me and adores me and reached into all of eternity to save me.  He is there for you too.  Ever desiring an intimate and loving relationship.  He is faithful, full of truth, and the Prince of Peace.  He will never leave you nor forsake you.  And when you are weary, you can lean on Him and He will carry you.  He forgives us when we seek Him with a genuine, repentant heart.  And places our feet on a path of hope and grace.
I so seldom share my faith here, but I just can not keep it in right now.  I pray you are not offended but rather blessed.

I will be back tomorrow, to share my Sew and Tell contribution!  I am so glad that Amy is hosting this every Friday.  It keeps me on task and as much as I love to wander about in my projects, I have tried to discipline myself to finish at least one of them per week.
