Happy Saturday!  I hope you are having a nice weekend!  Our weather has taken a very pleasant turn.  Woody and I had our coffee on the porch this morning while listening to birds singing in our trees and watching a couple bunnies scampering about in our yard.  We have a full propane cylinder and will be grilling our lunch today!  Yay! 

I have two more barn blocks completed.  These are my favorite so far.  I am leaving the additional sashing off the last 8 blocks we will make, so I have the option in layout, since I am incorporating blue barns into the mix.

I took advantage of a dry warm day, and got two more of my chairs painted. 

I still have a bookcase to prime and paint and then my sewing room furniture make overs are done.  Yay!

While perusing the magazine isle at Walmart, I came upon this!

The link to my Moda Bake Shop tutorial made it into publication!  Oh my goodness! I was so excited, I considered grabbing the elderly man, next to me, who was reading a hunting magazine, and saying, "look, isn't this so neat?"  However, I decided against it.  wink.  Instead I took pictures with my phone and emailed it to my family and a dear friend.  

Since quilt market is over, I can now share one of my secret projects.  Yay!  I pieced this amazing quilt, designed by Kimberly Jolly, using Greatest Hits by Windham Fabrics.  The pattern is called Gallery of Stars and will be available as a kit in September.

For the longest time I had planned to paint our old farm house table cream, but I wanted to do it right.  After a real good priming and letting that set up for several days, I was able to put a couple of coats of cream paint on.  I love it!  And I can't wait to finish my room with the same method.

I have shown this little table in the past.  It was sort of a guinea pig in the process, to see how the paint and primer would work out.  Plus it was small enough if need be I could "fix" any issues I ran into.

So gradually, the bigger pieces are coming around to be painted.  The weather is nice and toasty and my little sewing room is actually the best place to do the painting.  So one of these two will be up next.  I have an old sheet that lays on the floor under a sturdy cutting table, which is just perfect.

This has not been a very speedy process, getting my little sewing space just right. Thanks for your patience, as I show each little step, one at a time.

The fried squash was delicious!  The fried squash king is back on his throne!!  ha ha ha.  To keep the house from getting stinky, we do it outdoors.  In a way it is sort of like camping.

For those of you who have inquired, Woody is recovering nicely.  It is a slow and steady pace, but it is going in the right direction and that means everything!  We have learned so much from this journey.  For starters, God is indeed more than faithful.  Attentive to every prayer, meeting every need.  Never once did we feel out of His presence, and because He saw fit for this trial to occur, He supplied the faith and stamina needed to endure.

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your path."

our crabapple tree is full of pretty buds and blossoming flowers.  the scent is beautiful and the hope of yummy jelly to be made this year lends a sweet dose of pleasure while i am working out in the yard ...

all our trees have exploded in fresh green leaves and the grass is growing like mad.  if you live in the south, you know our spring came a bit early this year.  our azaleas are big fluffy bushes of pinks and magentas, even some whites, bulbs broke through the soil and bloomed early, my daffodils are still making their way up though, thankfully they held on a little bit longer.  the beauty lasts such a short time, it is nice when we can take the time to enjoy it.

and onto the not so pretty side of spring ... servicing my zero turn radius lawn mower, which i drive like a turtle!  this morning, first thing, i learned how to change the oil and oil filter (what a sense of accomplishment!!) since Woody is out of commission and unable to do it himself.  Nathan gave me yet another driving lesson and as time permits, we will split the yard duties as Woody continues to heal.

when time permits ... do you hear a pattern here?? ... these fabrics will become my swoon block number 3.  

and since strawberries are my very favorite fruit to use in fabrics and decor ... i just could not sign off with out first showing you a favorite fat quarter of mine.

Woody has received the finest care from the neurology recovery ward.  Truly, the nurses that have cared for him (both times) have made their job, their calling. 

And as a small token of our appreciation, I baked a couple dozen chocolate chip cookies for them to share, and added a little Cath Kidston thank you card, filled with our sentiments.

Pretty cool huh??  I have been hoarding our plastic salad boxes, washing them real good after removing the labels.  They make the best cookie boxes!!  Add a sweet little card and tie it up with a bow.  Voila!

As mentioned recently, I have been putting a fresh coat of paint on the trim around my sewing room.  Brightening up the place.  And now the paint will hit the furniture.  

I am so excited!  This is my first little project.  A sweet little table that was handed down from a friend.  I will show it to you when finished.  Hopefully in the next day or two.

I played a little bit with those blocks I showed you yesterday.  Thanks for the response given.  The more I cut and squared, the more I realized, that if my blocks are not spot on, there is no way I would want to place them for sale.  So, instead, they will become a quilt top.  I know what you are thinking ... yes, I do have many projects going at once.  I thrive that way.

What I have really been wanting to show you, is this adorable pouch.  Isn't it the cutest?  Last year, Kimberly and I made a little swap.  My granny square scarf for her cute pouch and two little wallets (were the perfect size for gift cards at Christmas).  I love my little pouch.  It is the perfect size for crochet hooks, and even my grannies fit nicely in there, perfect when toting around.  Thanks so much Kimberly!!

Furniture Features Friday

Today's contribution is a metamorphosis of and old dresser. I still need to purchase the rest of the knobs, I have just been living with this look to see if I really like it or not.

spray paint deprived

This is a tiny project, but I was just feeling a bit spray paint deprived. It was small and seemed to do the trick, until I can dig my hands into bigger projects. My thumb even has paint on it!

I have my newly painted basket hanging on our pantry door with red geraniums.

I can not take full credit for this fun spray painting job. I was blog surfing yesterday and visited with 320 * Sycamore. She had the very cutest bunny makeover and I just HAD to do the same! I did not like the pink flowers or ears on my bunnies, so they stayed tucked away in my bedroom closet. Being the cheap do it yourselfer that I am ... I ran those bunnies out doors and began spray painting! I have to say, I love how they turned out!!
