Three weeks my sewing machine has sat quietly.
Gosh, where has the time gone?
Yesterday I sewed up two adorable samples for fall.
It was so much fun!

happenings. in a nutshell.

My scrappy trip around the world is coming along a bit slowly, which is totally fine with me.  This has been such a fun project to have in the background.
In between working on projects with deadlines, it has been nice to just pull out strips and sew them together.
Each night before I go to sleep, I have been reading The Secret Garden.  It is such a nice place to slip away to.
Autumn has shown up on the inside of my home.  I am hoping to convince the outside to do the same.  Come on cooler days!

I have listed two carefully cut batting bundles in my little shop.  A 4" and a 5".  Perfect sizes for rag quilts either using a 5" fabric square or a 6" fabric square.  If you need more please contact me.
Have a wonderful day and thanks so much for visiting.

tutorial tuesday. easy square in square block.

Hello and welcome back to tutorial tuesday here at notes of sincerity.  It has been a couple of weeks since I have posted a tutorial, either mine or one I have used from someone else.  Since I have received a number of emails and comments on this particular block, I thought it would be fun to take you through a step by step (I gave a written description on how to piece this block-but having pictures is so much more fun don't you think?!).  It is super duper easy and a fun way to use up special scraps in your stash.
materials needed : 3 - 5" squares
cutting instructions : cut 2 of the 5" squares diagonally
sewing instructions : with right sides together center
and sew half squares on opposite sides of the 5" square
trim off nubs
open and press half squares outwards with hot dry iron
with right sides together center and sew remaining
half squares on opposite sides of the 5" square
again, open and press half squares
outwards with hot dry iron
center and square to 7 1/2"
See.  Wasn't that easy?!  My sweet little bucket is filling up nicely with squares from scraps of fabric I used in 2013 quilt projects!
I hope you have enjoyed my little tutorial.  wink.

**for your convenience I have listed a pdf in my little shop for this pattern

friday finish. candy color cowl.

I just put the final touches on my candy color cowl and have also listed it in my little etsy shop.  I know it is hotter than hades up here in the Northern Hemisphere (at least it feels that way in my own back yard), but I have loved working away on this cowl and have already begun another one.
Thank you for visiting today.
Have a lovely weekend.

monday.

Happy Monday to you!  I hope you had a nice weekend.  I am still trying to figure out where mine went - wink!  Friday and Saturday I spent sewing and Sunday was a day to just relax and enjoy the lovely weather we are having.

A chilly day in May seems a bit odd down here in the south, so I am taking full advantage of every single sweet breeze that blows my way.  Pretty soon the heat will kick in and the a/c will be on.
My friend Jocelyn (hi Jocelyn!) and I are creating Happy Go Lucky Suburbs together, across the miles.  I have been aching to get started but one thing has led to another preventing me from doing so.  I am really hoping to squirrel away some time this week to get my cutting started.  This is going to be so much fun!  We are each choosing 2 houses to make exactly the same (hers and mine) and then we will keep the rest a secret until we finish.  Isn't that so much fun?!  I'm so excited!
My little zipper pouch sold quickly *yay* so I decided to list another one.  I absolutely love making these!  I was thinking about making sets that would include a matching tissue cover and zipper pouch.
What do you think??
