Quilty Fun Sew Along. week 17. mittens

Welcome to week 17 of The Quilty Fun Sew Along and Blog Tour!  Hosted by Lori Holt of Bee In My Bonnet and The Fat Quarter Shop.  I am so glad that you are here today!
I am a huge fan of Lori's and I have loved creating each week's blocks and I am super excited to see how it is all coming together!  I hope that you too have been sewing along with us and having just as much fun!  If you haven't begun, is never too late to start!  Quilty Fun can be purchased here and each week's companion sheets can be found here.
On my little stop today, I am sharing my mitten blocks.  I would love to make a Christmas pillow using these sweet little mittens!  Wouldn't that be fun?!
Be sure to upload your mitten blocks on The Quilty Fun Flickr page for a chance to win one of two prices!  The Fat Quarter Shop is giving away a Circle Ruler Set by Bee In My Bonnet and a pack of Alphabitties Specialty Marking Tools by It's Sew Emma.

Mittens pdf companion sheet found here.

what does a goose say??

honk honk.

Ok, so that was a little corny, but in my defense, flying geese and I don't play well together.  Ever.  I am such a stickler for accuracy in my sewing and for some reason, I can't seem to ever get flying geese, just right.

The method that Lori has shared with us (the quilty fun sew along week five) changed all that for me!  I just wanted to jump up and down and give her a great big hug!!

These little flying geese are just so cute!  I chickened out on the row along quilt -  flying geese row, and am now sorry for that.  Now I actually want to make flying geese, like all the time!
Also, have you seen It's Sew Emma's Alphabitties?  They are a new marking tool that saved the day for me while laying out the fabrics I needed for the flying geese blocks.  When squares are cut so close in size, I get confused and these little gems helped me keep it all organized.
And ... of course with my sweet little granddaughter, Grace Anne, just born, I had to play with the letters to spell out her name!  wink.
I am having so much fun sewing each section to The Quilty Fun Sew Along!  I hope you will join in the fun!  Don't forget to check out the flickr page!

a little of everything.

I am having so much fun sewing the Quilty Fun Sew Along blocks!  These little courthouse steps have stolen my heart!  I would love to make a whole quilt of them like Lori's!  I even made a pincushion out of one.  It is the perfect size!
My dear friend Renee and I are sewing together across the miles.  We both have a fat quarter bundle of Santa's Workshop (I got mine here) and have both made two blocks.  Check out Renee's blocks here.
I raced outside today to try and get some pictures of my favorite tree.  With hundreds on our property, it must sound hard to choose just one.  Though there are several I am very fond of, while they are all shedding their leaves for the season, this one displays the prettiest shades of orange and red.  I literally wait for it.  It is such a beautiful show and lasts such a short amount of time.
I hope you are having a wonderful week!

Don't forget to enter this fabulous fabric giveaway!  Winner will be chosen tomorrow!

over. the. moon.

Quilty Fun arrived in my mailbox the other day.  And can I just say ... this is truly my favorite quilting book on the shelf!  Although I don't see it staying on the shelf very often.
As a matter of fact, I have already applied Lori's method for making pillow cases, using my two barn along quilt blocks.  (Instructions found on page 75.)  I love this method and am so glad to have learned about it via Lori's instruction!!  I will use it from this day on.
A little more Quilty Fun news : there is a sew along quickly approaching!  I can not wait to get started!!  I hope that you will join in the fun!
