the bee's knees 2012-2013 quilting bee quilt.

I am so happy to finally be able to share a very special quilt with you today.  You can see previous posts here and here.  I have shown snippets and even a post when my dear quilt was sent home after being beautifully quilted by Kathy.  (Big hugs Kathy - I love it!!)
But I was really looking forward to having the time to bind and come back to show you the completed completed quilt.  Wink.
Each block is so precious to me.  I hope you are not sick of me saying so.  I really really loved being a part of such a talented and sweet group of ladies.  I sure miss it, but lo and behold, it just isn't the time.
Clearing my plate for the needs of my home and family was necessary.
If you would like to see little snippets of my crafty and homemaking daily life, you can follow me on instagram.  xo

phone camera.

Someday I will actually use my big girl camera.  But for today's post bear with me while I share a few snaps from my instagram feed
For starters I took a few minutes to do a little spray painting.  These stars hung in my son's bathroom, but after a fresh coat of apple red, I thought they would look cuter in my kitchen.  That and I am painting the said bathroom, so everything came off the walls.  (Not sure why my kitchen walls look peachy - yikes!)
Secondly, I am so excited to share a little but very cute tutorial from The Fat Quarter Shop, real soon, so stay tuned!  Just in time for cooler weather ... hint.
And last but not least a super (to me) fun thrifty find.  I just fell in love with these mixing bowls.  The red and white tugged at my heart immediately.  They just had to come home with me.  I am looking forward to filling them with all sorts of goodies.
I hope your week is off to a great start!!  xo

quilty fun on instagram - lots of pictures.

Lori Holt shared a super fun and easy tutorial on her instagram, that I am following along with.  It is never too late to play along and you can find lots of inspiration under #scrappycrossroads.
I am getting caught up on bee blocks.  With a couple more to go.  It has been so much fun participating in the bees knees quilting bee.  I hate that I need to step away, but it is all in finding balance.
Did you happen to see Me and My Sister Designs blog hop for their latest pattern makin' it cute??  Oh mercy, these flowers are so cute!  I ordered the pattern and stalked my poor mailman until it arrived.  Then made it immediately.  Mine is a magnet on the fridge and I smile every time I see it.
Kathy did the cutest quilting on my dottie table topper!!  I was able to get the binding sewn on the other day!  Happy happy happy!  wink.
With all the cutting of fabrics, I am building a nice little stash of 2 1/2" strips and squares, plus 1 1/2" strips and squares, for my next leaders and enders quilt

The first one I made is heading to be quilted and then to a new home.  I sure hope you are having a fabulous summer!  The days seem to go by so fast!  Thank you for dropping by my little space here in blogland.  xo

painting.

The better part of last weekend was spent painting two of my larger rooms, the kitchen and the living room.  Here is a little snippet I shared on instagram.  I am really loving this new paint color.  It is honeysuckle white by Behr and I got it at Home Depot.
In addition to that, I have been making little changes that I thought would be fun to share here.  A very special framed print of ours got a face lift with a new mat and a painted frame from my stash (I have a frame fetish - wink - so I always check my stash before thinking about buying a new one.)
Then I have been rematting a few very dear pictures.
The years have gone by way too fast for me.  How did these precious little ones grow up so quickly?  sniff ...
Two more paint colors I am playing with are reds and greens.  One of my kitchen prints got a fresh coat of "hidden meadow", thinking it was an apple - ish green, turns out it was quite lime-y.  Like scary.  So I improvised and sanded the edges for a distressed look.  I am loving it now.  wink.
I will be sharing more as it continues to come together.  There is still more painting to be done, plus a couple of sewing projects that I am anxious to get started ... right after I mow the yard.  wink.
Thank you so much for dropping by my little blog.
I so appreciate you sweet comments and friendships!  xo

April 17, 2014

hello poor neglected little blog.

It has been another instagram kind of week.  Since I have a number of secret sewing projects that I am unable to show, I tend to find myself gravitating over to instagram to share snippets of my little life.
Spring has graced us for the past several weeks.  Green grass that needs mowing, lots of trees and flowers in bloom, buzzing with bees.  A trip to the local feed store for garden veggies and some new little duckling snuggles today - I just love his fuzzy little head!!  Crocheting in the evenings and a strip quilt that I just can't seem to decide how I want to quilt.  There was no time for hand quilting this past winter and with summer on our heels down here in the south, it will quickly be too warm.  Hmm... decisions decisions.  wink.
I have truly missed you all.  But am so happy to follow many of you on ig and love that you are following me too!  I hope to blog on a more regular basis in the near future!
Thanks so much for visiting today!  xo

another instagram kind of week.

Hello and Happy Friday!  Wow, where has the week gone?  I sure hope you have had a nice one.
I have spent my on-line time over at instagram sharing some winter deep cleaning, some secret sewing for an upcoming Moda Bake Shop recipe and also some fun sewing, like these sweet houses, designed by Lori Holt.  I am in love with making these houses!  I need 9 for the wall hanging I am making.
Another project I am working on is a rag wreath for my kitchen.
So far I have all the gingham tied on and am now waiting for a yard of Bake Sale Cherry on Blue from Bake Sale Collection by Lori Holt for Riley Blake Designs from Fashionable FabricsIsn't it so cute?!
Have a lovely weekend!  xo

Happy 2014!

Happy New Year my dear blogging friends!  I hope you had a fabulous Christmas and are happily stepping into 2014.  Momma Mia, did 2013 go by fast or what?
I received some very fun mail just the other day.  Kathy worked her quilting magic on two dear quilts of mine.  I absolutely love them and have put a hold on all other projects/tasks so that I can work on binding them today.  What a great way to ring in the new year!  Thank you so much Kathy!
Be sure and check out Kathy's blog Stitch by Stitch as well as her long arm quilting services.  Each month Kathy offers a fabulous special just for you.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
p.s.  I have a little confession to make.  With all the busyness of December, I have been camping out on my instagram a good bit.  Please feel free to drop by and or follow along if you would like.
