Happy Sunday to you.
The rain never fell yesterday.
But boy was I able to get a lot accomplished.
I hope you are having a nice weekend.

a little stitching

do you like to create for the holidays?  i sure do and this year has sort of taken on a theme with me.  cross stitching ornaments.  i thought i would give you a little sneak peek at what i do in the evenings, while watching a favorite tv show with my husband.  the patterns i have been using are super simple, and small (and free - they are off the internet).  i think i have made 5 so far - all different.  and since i am using up floss from cross stitching days gone by, each one is custom to how i want it to be.

what do you enjoy creating for the holidays?

and in the wash it goes

finally ... this cross stitch pattern seemed to have taken me forever ... not because it is complicated ... it just sort of never got done ... do you ever start a project and then it just seems to linger?

February 24, 2010

nothing too complicated

In keeping with using what I have and finishing old projects this year (rather than taking on new ones) I am cross stitching a pattern that was started way back. I put it down when I began quilting. Three quilts still need binding (two that are currently at the quilter & one that I hand quilted-all on hold since my sewing machine died).

What are you working on?
Are you also finishing up projects this year?

using what you have and a free pattern

I was wanting to cross stitch something ... {anything} ... a while back and when I dug through my supplies I found a number of teddy bear patterns ... plenty of floss ... and a scratch piece of Aida cloth. I knew I did not want to work on a teddy bear pattern. So I began surfing the web for a free pattern. This is what I came up with. Since I only had a swatch of cloth, I had to improvise. So my completed project is a wee bit different. I chose what colors I wanted to see and shrunk it all down to my liking.

I picked up the oak frame for $.50 at a thrift store ( was brand new ), had the sponge, Kilz, and spray paint all tucked away in my messy craft area that I {slightly} showed the whole wide world, the other day.

I am participating in Kimba's Do It Yourself Day.

**Side note - Thank you Kammy (one of my favorite bloggers)
at
Small Home In The Country, for showing us the American Accents spray paint! I love this color and would not have seen it with out first viewing it on your blog.
I especially love the chair makeover!**

I have been working on a little cross stitching.

complete

Can you believe that I started this cross stitch in 1998?
For real!
I did however finish it a couple of weeks ago.
That counts for something right?!
Smile!
