This was a fun weekend of relaxing with family and putting the finishing touches on my two barn pillows.

Lori Holt's Quilty Barn Along.

Oh happy day!  All the windows are open, the birds are chirping, the skies are clear and the air is crisp and cool.  It would seem that fall found my address and has made herself at home.  I couldn't be happier!  I have several outdoors tasks on my list, plus some fun painting ones as well. 

But before I head outside, I just had to share my Quilty Barn Along finish.  Lori Holt's Quilty Barn Along was soo much fun!!!  My blocks turned into one wall hanging and two (in the making) pillow tops (I made six out of twelve).  Thank you so much Lori, for such a fabulous quilt along!!! 

Kathy did such a fantastic job of quilting it!!   Thank you so much Kathy!!!  I could hardly wait to bind it with a little brown gingham!  I still need to sew a pocket on the back, and I am thinking it will be super cute in my laundry room!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

It was pretty uneventful around here.

I did however piece my four barn blocks together.

It will be a wall hanging.  

I can't wait to show what the other two blocks will become.

I also finished handquilting my little Christmas table topper.

Just need to finish the binding.

tutorial tuesday. the quilty barn along.

Hi girls!  Welcome back to tutorial tuesday.  This week I wanted to share the latest block I have sewn in Lori's Quilty Barn Along.  Have you been building barns too?  This silo block made my heart skip a beat!  I could hardly wait to make mine!

Lori showed her's in green and well, I was a big ol' copy cat and pieced mine in green as well.  I also used a couple of Lori's latest bake sale 5" squares, in the center quilt block.  I am so smitten with bake sale, you will most likely see it popping up often on my blog.  wink.

I hope that your week is off to a great start!  We had a pretty strong storm the other day, so I will be picking up branches, cutting down some fallen pine trees, and getting our yard mowed ... that is, right after I build a couple more barns!  wink.

Happy Saturday!  I hope you are having a nice weekend!  Our weather has taken a very pleasant turn.  Woody and I had our coffee on the porch this morning while listening to birds singing in our trees and watching a couple bunnies scampering about in our yard.  We have a full propane cylinder and will be grilling our lunch today!  Yay! 

I have two more barn blocks completed.  These are my favorite so far.  I am leaving the additional sashing off the last 8 blocks we will make, so I have the option in layout, since I am incorporating blue barns into the mix.

I took advantage of a dry warm day, and got two more of my chairs painted. 

I still have a bookcase to prime and paint and then my sewing room furniture make overs are done.  Yay!

While perusing the magazine isle at Walmart, I came upon this!

The link to my Moda Bake Shop tutorial made it into publication!  Oh my goodness! I was so excited, I considered grabbing the elderly man, next to me, who was reading a hunting magazine, and saying, "look, isn't this so neat?"  However, I decided against it.  wink.  Instead I took pictures with my phone and emailed it to my family and a dear friend.  

Since quilt market is over, I can now share one of my secret projects.  Yay!  I pieced this amazing quilt, designed by Kimberly Jolly, using Greatest Hits by Windham Fabrics.  The pattern is called Gallery of Stars and will be available as a kit in September.  

 

Here are a couple of the pictures I took before mailing out for quilting.  It was such a fun pattern to sew!!

It is raining, thunder, and lightening outside today.   

Perfect weather to stay indoors and play with fabric.

My crock-pot is full of black eyed peas with kielbasa for tonight's dinner and I am enjoying piecing Lori's adorable barn blocks!  I thought I would introduce blue to my little collection of barns and could hardly wait to do so with some of Lori's latest fabric line bake sale.  It is SOO cute!!! Donna sent a little fat quarter bundle to me as a sweet birthday present!  Thanks so much Donna!  I will think of you every time I use it!!

All four of my quilty barn along blocks now have darling scrappy borders.  This has been such a fun quilt to put together!  Lori always shares the cutest projects!

I finished barn number three from Lori's Barn Along, this week!  Yay!  I am having so much fun constructing them!!

These squares are tiny!  

Starting at 1 1/2" squares.   

The little birdie square is my favorite! 

I received the sweetest little package of Lecien fat quarters from Donna (who is also building barns) and could hardly wait to use the red for building the latest barn!  Thanks Donna!!

 

barn number two.

I have been spinning a million plates in the background and just as soon as I could break away, I built a barn!  Well, not a reeaal barn!  A sweet fabric barn.  Lori over at Bee In My Bonnet is hosting the quilty barn along.  Every two weeks, we make a new barn using the same blue prints (wink), while hanging a new quilt block on the side.

 

This week Lori showed us how to make a farm fresh flower for the side of our barns.  Isn't that so cute?  It measures 6 1/2".  Lori's tutorials are fabulous.  Each step laid out neat and clear.  It is kind of like taking a class she is teaching ... I hope one day that will become a reality.  She is so nice and I have learned so much from her!

 

Thank you Lori for your fabulous barn tutorial!  This is quickly becoming a very favorite!  With a cherry on top!

barn raising.

Lori over at Bee In My Bonnet has done it again!  Not only did she create some of the very cutest barn blocks, she is teaching us how every other Wednesday to do the very same thing!!  I have never seen an actual barn with a quilt block painted on the side.  Instead I have admired them through other bloggers who have posted them.  Just think, now I will have my very own barns with quilt blocks painted on the side, theoretically of course, they are actually sewn on!  ha ha!

 

This is my first barn block.  I used an orphaned 6 1/2" square left over from this project.  I can't wait for the next barn block!  Will you be joining in too??
