August 30, 2012

rainy day sewing.

In making preparations for Hurricane Isaac to drop in for a visit, I accomplished all my (chores) to do list.  I didn't want our family to be with out power and needing clean clothes, food and water, or other such things.
But now, I have nothing to do.  Crazy huh?!  It is rare for me to be in this predicament.  Plus after I posted how happy I was to have internet and power ... guess what happened next?!  Yep, we lost both!
It wasn't for too long, only a few hours.  So during that time, by lantern light, I ripped seams from an older project I had been wanting to redo and organized my fabric scraps by color (what a difference that makes-why didn't I do that sooner??).
Today I was able to pull two of my w.i.p's from the closet.  I posted the dresden several weeks ago, thinking I could finish it up that week.  Nope!  It sits as you now see it, at least now it is pinned and will be hand quilted later today.
I finally put the finishing touches on the granny square mini quilt project.  Which took only a few minutes, why didn't I do that sooner, also?!
I am at a loss.  What should I do with it?  I was thinking a pillow.  But that will be a pretty big pillow.  It will be handquilted with perle 8 thread, no matter what it ends up becoming...
 Will you please help me
make up my mind?!

Thank you for all the dear well wishes.  The storm packed a good amount of wind and rain and broke off several tree branches, but other than that, everything else in our home is fine.  Your prayers and thoughts were deeply felt and appreciated.

no. 5 and no. 6

I was able to work on a couple more granny squares And I could not resist adding another row of sashing.
I am truly debating on making a giant quilt of these, but they are a bit finicky to make, so it is still in the the pondering phase.
With the weather heating up like it has lately (it was 87 degrees yesterday ... ugh), I am certainly not in a big hurry to get back outdoors.  And with that said, hopefully, the other three blocks will be completed soon.
Have a nice week.

no. 4

Yay.  Granny square number four is complete.  This has been such a fun little quilt to make, I am already imagining a much bigger one, later on.
Still no sign of Thomas (sniff.).  But I am hopeful for his return.  Thank you for the kind words and little prayers said for his coming home.
Did a little fabric destash.  There is a jelly roll of Day Dream in my etsy shop.  I love this fabric!  I have used an entire layer cake of it, and it is the scraps that I am using for my little granny square quilt.
