bee blocks. september.

Last month, Amy of amylouwho mailed out her fabrics and ask that we create 12.5" (unfinished) string blocks
I had so much fun creating these blocks for her, and was so happy to have just enough fabric to make two rather than one.
I confess, October's block has me a little bit apprehensive and excited all at the same time.  I have never created a paper pieced block and have wanted to learn for the longest time.  April has attached a fabulous tutorial for paper piecing in her instructions if you would like to try this block for yourself.

The experience I have had while participating in this sweet little quilting bee has been fabulous!  With the exception of September's string blocks, the quilt squares for each month have been firsts for me.  I absolutely love learning and am thankful for the opportunity.

** update **  oopsie ... I was looking back over the blocks made and realized that I had done the spin cycle block (one of my all time favorites - how did I miss that?!).

  1. I feel very much the same way as you do Trish. I just mailed Amy's string block off to her. But the paper pieced one for April this month looks like quite the challenge! One of the fun things about our Bee is learning new things, so I will give it my best.

Just a word of encouragement on paper piecing...
it looks harder than it is and the block you are doing will be fun!
I think you will really like it once you get the hang of it.
