fall cleaning

a couple weeks ago, jodi posted on spring cleaning in the fall.  she gave some great ideas on how to go about that.  i personally spring clean and fall clean, but after reading her post, things really kicked it into high gear.

i actually went through my spice area and dumped everything that was outdated.  i had no idea how old some of that stuff was.  thanks jodi for pointing me in that direction.  boy did i need to get it done.

i am currently going room.by.room (remember that show?).  and scrubbing from top to bottom, or bottom to top, depending on what room i am in.  smile.  no drawer is left untouched, even the light fixtures are taken down and washed. curtains too. base boards being washed, door casings being vacuumed.  all those much deeper things that just don't get done on a regular basis.  even my recipe binder got a make over!

when the weather cools, the windows are next.  then last but not least is the attic.  truth be told, i have not cleaned that out since we moved in 4 years ago.  and slowly but surely we have managed to add stuff to it.

as for getting rid of stuff, we have a local thrift store and consignment store.  i typically take items that i know will sell, to the consignment store, and other items i am not too sure about, to the thrift store.  it puts a few bucks back into our pockets each month and helps those who may need what i have to give.  it's a win win.

it won't be long and the weather will change, the windows will be opened, and it will be pleasant outdoors.  i don't want to be stuck cleaning then.  i want to be in the very thick of it, with a good book or binding a quilt.
