Can someone help me??

Here is my dilemma ... when I go to post an image from my computer, once it shows up on my blog post it is "blurry" looking.
I thought it could have something to do with the sizing.
But no matter what I do, it comes up "blurry".
Here is the strange thing though ... if you are just looking at the pictures they look blurry, but if you click on them and they enlarge - they look great.
The way they should look.
Given they are not blurry due to my own error.

Please ... if you know the answer to this question ... please please pass it along to me!

Also, what is your method for uploading images? What do you size them to to begin with (on your own computer)?

I appreciate any help you may be able to give.

Here is a test picture.
The original size was w:1953 h:2551.
I changed it to w:400 and the height automatically changed to h:522

This next image I chose large rather than medium while uploading (still using 400x522).

And here it is sized at w:300 h:391 (which it automatically goes to with choosing a width of 300)

  1. wow i have NO idea.
check your html and see if there's something going on there like as if it's not s400 or s640
that's all i have for you. my images are usually 1000 to 3000pxs and to make mine bigger on my post i change it from s400 to s640
but i really have no idea what is going on with your posting.
    i'm sorry i couldn't help more!

  2. I think it could be related to pixels sizes - have you changed any settings on your camera upload software? I could probably also help you with any car problems or tell you how the football team should have run their last offensive play/series - HA! Don't take my advice with computer stuff. Can your kids help? I am amazed at how easy computers are for their generation.

Hope you get it fixed. Thanks for commenting on my porch post!

  4. If I am going to change the size of my pictures before I upload them to blogger, I change them to 640 x 480. However when my camera takes the pics if I don't change the size they are uploaded at 400 x 300 and then I enlarge them after they are uploaded in my post. I don't know why they come out blurry. I guess just play with the size. The 640 x 480 is rather standard from what I've heard. See if that helps. Hugs, Marty

  5. I'm sorry but I'm not going to be much help. We just purchased a new computer and I'm learning how to download photos all over again. I hope you get the answers you need. I'm sure someone will know what to do.

    Good Luck!

  6. Oh no!! I don't know. Mine just adjusts to the size it needs to from my computer. I use very large images with lots of pixels so it normally takes a long time anyway. So I don't know. I will check back and hopefully you will get it fixed.

  7. I am not sure why they would be doing that? I personally resize mine by 50% in my personal photo program, then I upload them to the blog... I doubt that was any help...

  8. I'm not much help either. I load my photos at original size for the most part now. I used to take the time to resize every single one for a blog, Facebook, etc. My teen daughter said, Mom you are wasting your time. LOL So now I just upload them huge and they resize in blogger. Some use Photobucket to load pictures then place them in the blog. I never have. I hope someone can answer for you! I think your photos look fine.

  10. Hmmm, not sure. I use Sarah's method for making pics larger:

  12. Hi Trish,
Ummm, not exactly sure but it probably does have something to do with size...although your pics didn't look blurry in your examples. My pics are uploading from my camera to my computer at a huge size...something like 3008 x 2000. When I upload them to Blogger, I upload in the Large setting. Then I resize them one by one by changing the code in the HTML side of the post. It is time consuming but I like the result. One of these days I'm going to take time to do a post in Microsofts new Live Writer program...it is supposed to a lot easier to use and very easy to enlarge your pics for posts. The only times I've gotten pics that went blurry was when I tried to enlarge a small pic to make it larger. There may be a setting on your camera where you can change the size of the pics so they are more the size you want from the start...that might help. Wish I could be of more help.

  13. Hi Trish,
Thanks so much for coming by today! I am always so thrilled to meet new blogger friends! So, regarding your picture Q....I am wondering if you used Picasa to store whatever pictures you want to blog & then export them from Picasa back to a folder in your hard drive....? It might work. But I really don't know either, I'm just taking a stab at it. BTW, your pics did not look blurry at all on your blog! Good Luck!

  14. Your pictures look great on your blog. I'm sorry, I don't know what the problem is. My guess is you need to change the pixel size on your camera. Good Luck! Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend!

  16. Golly, I wish I could help - but I , too, am new to blogging and my camera just downloads and my computer automatically sizes the pictures. I don't know what I will do if I ever have to change anything.

Cheers to you - thanks for stopping by, I wish I could have helped.

  17. I've had this happen too but it was always when I changed the size after it was uploaded to blogger. When I enlarged it, it appeared a bit blurry. What is your camera set at? I have mine at the highest resolution which takes up more space but gives a nice photo. So far I'm uploading using blogger. I tried some using photobucket but it was cutting the side off and I was unsure how to fix that.

Thanks for coming by, I wish I could be more help on your photos! I apologize for not having visited in a while, we are hip deep into this kitchen project and I'm happy to say it is almost done. It's been a nightmare of a process but we're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now! Hope you are having a great weekend!

  18. Hi there! Blogger does have a way of making choices for which size of photos to use..under format, I think. BUT! Check out Cozy Little House (on my sidebar, Brenda is her name) and she recently did a post on Windows Live. I am using that now and LOVE it. It is pretty easy, too. If you have any questions, please let me know. And it is FREE! :)

    Have a great day!!!

  19. Hi Tricia Anne! I don't know what the problem would be. I think your pictures look fine. Maybe I need new glasses. LOL The original size of the picture shouldn't matter. You might want to try Becky's suggestion of using the new program. I've read other blogs using it and they are pleased with it. Sorry I can't be of more help.

  20. I am guessing that you are making your photos too small. I usually change the largest size on my pictures to 1000 pixels and, of course the other size changes automatically. If you ar making them too small and them posting them in a large or extra large size that might mess up the resolution. This is a guess but try making them larger and see if that fixes the problem. I photo edit using picasa and then change the size using a free program called photofiltre (photofiltre.com). I hope this helps Tricia, I don't know what else it could be.
