from 2009.

In 2009 I played along with some others who answered the prompts in bold, then saved my answers in a document folder on my computer.  I am cleaning out my old computer files this morning and ran across this.  It brought back some memories, made me laugh a little and also reminded me of how much my life has stayed the same.  Feel free to join in the questions, come back here and let me know you did.  Sound like a plan?!  Oh and I edited a few of my answers to update.

by the way - these pictures have absolutely nothing to do with this post, I found some of them in older folders as well
I AM a daughter of The King.
(blessed to be so)

I AM NOT confrontational. However, my daughter says that I am not afraid to fight when I need to (I hope that is a good thing).

I KNOW how to French braid my own hair.
(my hair is super short now - so no more braids - pic on right taken a few years back)
I THINK I want to find a part time job. Maybe after the summer. It would only be while our children are in school.

(kids are graduated and on their own and in college - I'm still happily a home-maker keeping up with the demands around here)

I DON'T THINK I realized how much I would miss Dad since his death last year. It is overwhelming at times.

(I am much better now!)

I WANT to experience a day spa.
(still have not done this - I am 45 and have never had a pedicure)
I HAVE an obsession with analyzing people. I love to watch them and learn what makes them tick!

(I know this will never change!  Especially as I travel - the airport is the absolute best place to people watch!)

I LIKE getting older.
(Yep!)

I DISLIKE seeing men without a shirt. Not a joke – the thought sends shivers up my neck!  Bleh!
(just felt the shivers thinking about it - ew)

I HATE when those large worms ate my tomato plants! Seven Dust will take care of it this year! And any worms that make it past the Seven Dust have a destiny with my chickens! Fondly known as “the girls.”

(we haven't had our sweet girls (chickens) for a number of years, and my garden also has not had those yucky worms to contend with)

I DREAM every single night.

(yep)

I FEAR that harm will come to our children.
(that remains my greatest fear!)

I'M ANNOYED when I forget clothes in the washer over night.

(much more disciplined now)

I CRAVE my husband’s fried chicken pieces. They knock my socks off - they are so delicious!! Also, real Chinese and Mexican food!
(oh my goodness is his fried chicken pieces good but sadly I have to be careful with the chinese and mexican food)

I USUALLY read my Bible in bed at night before I go to sleep.
(yep - my Heavenly Father tucks me in)

I SEARCH for the best prices on everything! It really is an obsession with me.

(Lord have mercy!  I am so cheap.  I love nice things but you will never see me paying full price for them if I can help it!)

I HIDE love notes for my family to find.
(that is one of the things I have missed the most about our kids no longer at home, but still love to do it for Woody)

I WONDER why things happen. I know the Lord has a purpose and is viewing a much larger picture. I just can’t help but be very curious about why things happen.

(pondering continues to happen)

I REGRET not letting my love of the color red to come out sooner. In my home as well as my clothes.

(now I have red in every single room of the house!!)

I LOVE taking care of my family.
(LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE)

I CAN be perfectly content spending time all alone.

(I actually prefer it.  I am a bit of an introvert and the alone time suits me.  I do however like making friends and spending time with them but I tend to rejuvenate in the space of being alone.)

I CAN'T live without coffee. Admission is the first step!
(can't have caffeine now - doctor's orders)

I TRY to always speak with a gentle voice and spirit.
(and hope others know that my silence is only because I am listening or reluctant to speak - not because I am conceited)

I ENJOY working in our yard.

(I will forever be an "outdoorsie" kind of girl!)

I DON'T CARE that my hair is turning gray. My son reminds me that it shows all my wisdom – bless his heart!!

(Boy has this changed!  You can find me in our local salon every 6 weeks!  And I love every single minute of it!)

I ALWAYS open windows in our home when the weather permits. I sleep so soundly when we can leave our window open through the night.

(It is 59 degrees out right now and the window next to me is open!)

I NEVER want to live in Alaska. NEVER.EVER.EVER.
(EVER!)

I'D RATHER be outdoors than indoors.

(any day of the year)

I RELY on myself probably more than I should.

(and will till the day I die)

I BELIEVE in God the father, maker of heaven and earth; Jesus Christ, His only Son, sent to die for my sins; that Jesus rose on the third day; by His grace and mercy I am forgiven; that I have an eternal hope and assurance; that I am free.
(amen and amen)

I DANCE in the privacy of our own home – a lot!

(it's in my blood!)

I SING all of the time.

(not that I am any good - I just can't help myself)

I ARGUE only when it is my very last option.

(There is nothing I hate more than arguing!  Debating is a different story, but arguing ... no thanks!)

I WRITE lists … lots and lots of lists!
(I can not live with out them - been this way my whole life!)
I WIN at Speed only when I play against Woody.

I LOSE at Chess when I play against Nathan – he is just too stinkin’ smart!

I WISH I had the talent/ability to communicate my thoughts, better.

I LISTEN to the rain, birds singing, my children laughing.
(Some of my very favorite sounds!)

I DON'T UNDERSTAND why Bear runs off like he does. Sometimes he will be gone over night.

I'M SCARED of masks, snakes, alligators.
(I literally hate all three!)

I FORGET things that are not written down.
(hence the need for lists)

I AM HAPPY when our family is spending time enjoying one another’s company.
(nothing fulfills me more)

Now the question is:

WHO ARE YOU???

Consider yourself tagged!  Come back here and let me know if you played along!

  1. Just poppin' in this new year, and I enjoyed reading your share and getting to know you better. We have very similar ideas, ie, JESUS, windows open, family, men w/o shirts(!), big fat worms, creating ~ Hugs to you!

  3. How fun to read! Since I don't have a blog I'll share a random fact with you. Every time I work in my flower beds I find at least one snake. They are small gray-black and seem harmless. So I pick them up, put them aside until my work is done and then put them back in the flower bed where they happily slither under a plant. Somehow I find snakes in all the flower beds so I think they must announce to the friends in the neighborhood that my yard is safe! :) But I absolutely abhor spiders and roaches!! Ick-they terrify me.

  4. I can relate to so many of these Trish! I too, am a daughter of the King, love analyzing people, am an introvert, I'm cheap...er frugal, sing a lot, I'm not confrontational, love my family and spending time with them....so many ways we are alike! On the other hand I don't mind men without shirts (within reason) or snakes. I abhor spiders. Thanks for digging this up, it was fun to see it again!

  5. It was such fun reading your blog. In some cases we are totally alike and in others total opposites. I too am a child of the King and that comes FIRST in my life. Second is my family and my time with them. A day outdoors was always preferable to a day indoors, though I learned to love baking, cooking, canning (much to my brother's surprise). I love a good deal just like the next person, but if I feel something is worth it - I pay full price. I like a stocked pantry. If anything reaches the second to last - it gets written on the grocery list. I love lists. Snakes still scare me, but any other creepy, crawly thing gets squashed instantly. I too love to sing, but after my illness two years ago, am not able to like I used to. My quilts are now my songs.
