(Dick and Jane Alexander Henry Fabrics - soo cute)
When I first started quilting, I did not understand the term "out of print" fabric. I did not know that fabric is created in a certain amount and often times only available until the last thread is sold. There were fabrics that I was falling in love with and trying desperately to find. Only to discover, they were no longer available. Boy did that change my perspective. I don't typically buy more than a fat quarter or maybe even a half yard, unless I know for sure that I will use it. So if there is a fabric that I can not live with out, I will purchase a fat quarter and stash it aside. Needless to say, I don't have a ton of fabric - which suits me. I like it that way. Too much fabric makes me nervous ... I know that must sound silly to some of you. A quilter who limits her fabric intake! ha ha ha!!
This Dick and Jane Alexander Henry fabric is out of print and is hard to find ... so when I saw it listed through Fashionable Fabrics ... I just had to share it with you!! I can see owning yardage in this print ... it would make the very cutest backing to a quilt!! Don't you think? Hmmm ... four yards maybe?!
It sure is a sweet print! I do not blame you one bit for searching for it, and I'm glad you found some ~

I am going to have to start following your rule on fabric!! I too get nervous and overhelmed with so much around. Very sweet fabric, I think I remember seeing it not to long ago. Congrats on finding some!
ReplyDeleteThat's such cute fabric! It reminds me of American Jane. I had wondered how you went about buying fabric because you have such fun scrappy quilts with a great mix of fabric. I used to hoard fabric in my past quilting life and now that I'm back to quilting (after a decade or so) I am trying to not give in to my hoarding instincts. I am grateful for Etsy--I can buy a FQ here and there from different collections and feel like I'm appeasing the fabric hoarder within. ;)

Yes very cute! It would make a nice backing & 4 yards would give you enough for a pretty big quilt I think.
ReplyDeleteFabric seems to be "out of print" before I even see it. While I have a great LQS - they don't stock all of a collection and I am usually on the hunt to finish my needs off. What is a girl to do without opening her own shop :)
